Why is dust so big and
out-of-focus between these points?
Is that the area in the
middle?
Yes, looking at the diagram
again. We have established that between the camera
and the left-hand line dust is not visible (being too
large) and between the subject/person and the right-hand
line dust is also not visible (being too small).
Dust is visible between
these two lines because it is out-of-focus.

So why is the dust big and
out-of-focus exactly?
As demonstrated before, if
you focus on something far away then anything close to you,
that you are not focussing on, will be out of focus.
The 'Try it at home'
exercise on the
last page
also showed how your hand appeared to be out of focus.
Although your hand is too big and solid to actually
disappear.
Is it really as easy as
that?
Unfortunately not! Later
sections will address the more technical issues.
But this section is designed to be an easy-to-use guide.
