| What are Orbs? | |||||||||||||

What about multiple orbs? There are some strange and conflicting questions being asked of multiple orbs. Here are some things people have said to me: - A large number of shows a spirit 'infestation' - A singular orb is more likely to be paranormal, because one bit of dust would not be floating around in isolation They surely cannot both be true, but demonstrates how a lack of understanding can breed odd theories.
What affects the number of orbs in photo? Most photos do not have any orbs, yet dust is in the air all the time. Orbs simply appear when the depth of field is great enough (see explanation) and when the flash is bright enough to create a large enough 'orb zone' to contain one of more motes of dust capable of being shown as orbs. If the orb zone is small it may well be that there is only one mote of dust capable of being illuminated as an orb. But if the orb zone is big, much more dust can be displayed as orbs.
Depth of field (which
defines the size of the orb zone) and the intensity of
flash (further defining in the size of the orb zone) can
b However one major factor which alters the DOF and brightness of flash (hence orb zone and number of orbs photographed) is the distance of the camera from its 'subject'. If the subject is a nearby person, inanimate object or wall only one orb might be represented. However if you take a photograph, say, over a balcony (where the subject is the floor, many metres below) the result may be similar to that as shown here.
Unscientific though it is, if one were to look at 100 orb photographs and add up the number where the subject was distant and cross-reference with photographs of multiple orbs one would likely see a correlation.
Another question relating to multiple orbs is orbs that are multiple but appear to be moving, but that is covered elsewhere.
