 What are Orbs?

My orb photographs from some angles, but not from others?

People have various problems when repeatedly photographing orbs.  Common problems include:

- Taking a photograph of an orb from one angle, and then photographing the same spot/room/area from another angle and the orbs not being present.

- Standing at the entrance to a room whilst others trash the room - stirring up dust - and still not being able to photograph orbs.

A lot of people think that is orbs are dust, that taking photos from different points in the room of the same spot should produce the same orbs.

The trouble seems to be a misunderstanding of the 'orb zone'.  It is easy to see where things can go wrong.  Take a look at this photograph for example, from the orbs on me section:

The camera is several feet away from the person being photographed.  But it looks like the orbs are 'on' the person in the photograph.  This is quite a common misperception.  People often talk about orbs being 'on the curtains' or 'next to the door', when they are not.

This problem stems from photographs being two-dimensional, so we have no perception of depth.  If you hold your hand in front of you it looks as if you hand is 'on' your PC screen, but because your eyes can perceive 3D depth you know that is is not.

So these orbs are not in the middle of the room, on the person, on the curtains or next to the door.  They are in a small area called the Orb Zone, a few centremetres (for example) from the lens.  They are just in the same line of sight as the person, curtains or door.

So what does this mean for our examples?

- If you take a photo of an orb 'in the middle of a room' and then move to the other side of the room (or even just a metre) and photograph 'the same spot' you will not photo the same orbs (although you might photo different ones).  Quite simply the original orbs were just in front of your camera, not in the middle of the room.

- For the person standing in the doorway, several feet from the people creating dust storms the reason they are not capturing orbs is simple.  The people creating the dust storms are several feet, rather than several centremetres, from the Orb Zone (just in front of their camera).
